DeFuniak Springs, FL (May 11, 2014) – Walton County Tax Collector Rhonda Skipper and her 32 member team have been selected by The Florida Sterling Council as a 2014 recipient of the Governor’s Sterling Award (GSA), the highest honor in Florida to recognize organizations for performance excellence.  Skipper will accept the award at the Governor’s Sterling Awards Banquet on May 30.

“Our team is incredibly honored by this award. This is something we’ve been working towards since taking office in 2005. It has been a long and difficult journey and we’ve learned much along the way. This recognition validates the hard work of our team. This isn’t a journey we have taken alone. Many people have contributed to this recognition. Our customers who provide us feedback, former team members who have retired, our colleagues in tax collector offices around the state, and other organizations who have allowed us to learn from them,” said Skipper. “I am very proud of our team.  Each member has contributed to this recognition.”

The Tax Collector’s Office will have an opportunity to share this recognition with the community when they host a Sterling Showcase later this year. The Showcase allows GSA recipients to share how they have worked to put the Sterling Model of performance excellence in place.
