Alternative (Installment) Payment Plan for Property Taxes

Taxpayers may choose to pay their property taxes quarterly by participating in an installment payment plan. To be eligible for the plan, the taxpayers' prior year taxes must exceed $ 100.00. Those who qualify must fill out and return an Installment Plan application form to the Tax Collector's Office prior to May 1st (application forms are available at any location) or they can be printed off the web.

The plan requires that the first installment be made no later than June 30th. Failure to make the first payment will automatically terminate the participant's eligibility for the remainder of the year. The taxpayer will then be sent a regular tax bill in November, and must apply to be reinstated on the installment plan for future tax years.

Who is eligible to participate in the Installment Plan?

  • Property owners with prior year taxes exceeding $100

  • Taxpayers who submit a completed Installment Plan application by April 30, application can be made beginning in January.

How does the plan work?

Using the previous year tax amount as an estimate, the Tax Collector's Office will send participating individuals a quarterly tax bill based on the payment and discount schedule below:

  • 1st installment- based on ¼ of the previous year taxes. Discount is 6%. Due June 30th

  • 2nd installment- based on ¼ of the previous year taxes. Discount is 4.5%. Due September 30th.

  • 3rd installment- ½ of the remaining actual tax liability for the current year. Discounted 3%. Due by December 31st.

  • 4th installment- remaining tax liability for the current year. No discount. Due by March 31st.
