Previously Titled out of State

To title a vehicle in Florida that has been titled in another state, the out-of-state title must be submitted as proof of ownership. If transfer of ownership has taken place, the title must be properly signed, indicating the new owner’s name and address, odometer reading, and selling price. An Application for Florida Title must be completed and accompanied by a verification of the vehicle identification number (VIN) and odometer reading on Form HSMV-82040. This form may be signed by any law enforcement officer, Florida notary, or Florida motor vehicle dealer. The owner(s) or purchaser(s) must sign this form or give power of attorney. Sales tax will be collected, if applicable.
